Fashion eyeglasses and sunglasses: trends of 2012.

Sunglasses and eyeglass frames in 2012 is a triumph of contrasts, when trendsetters offer us models - both large and small; round and square; minimalistic and luxurious; ornated,high-tech and ecologically clean. Sunglasses of slinky forms to come into fashion again, which are wear not only athletes now, but also lovers of outdoor activities. Trends of 2012 are determined not only by the shape, by materials, by used technologies, by decorative elements but by selected color schemes too for both eyeglasses and sunglasses.

Among the latest innovations that was presented in Milan at the biggest eyewear forum MIDO, experts identify several basic styles: "Sunglasses for the Party", "Snow Queen", "Vintage Eyewear", "Minimalist Charm", "Exotica", "Moonlight". Below we have tried to illustrate these styles with models of eyeglasses and shades, represented in the collections of the leading manufacturers. Although, in our view, this division is rather arbitrary. For example, some vintage sunglasses can be safely attributed to "Sunglasses for the Party" style. Rather, we can say that of general eyewear trend in 2012 is a proportional mixture of styles and determined by the the fantasy of designer of one or another brand. To express one's own opinion we can add that  youth style of "Sports Sunglasses", presented by well-known brands such as Oakley, Prada, Revo, Ray Ban, Carrera and others remain invariably popular.

"Sunglasses for the Party" style.

This style is characterized by intricate shapes, by fluorescent or exotic colors with a predominance of black, light green, green, orange and pink shades. Sunglasses made from acetate, artfully blending with the skin can create the effect of makeup or tattoo. Color is the main motive of the sunglasses, in which you are going to the beach or a party.

"Snow Queen" style.

Defining color spectrum is from white to a soft colorless. As recent polls, white color dominates when buying a new car (21%). In 2012, the white color comes into the world of sunglasses fashion, where it will be characterized, mainly for corrective glasses. White color for sunglasses and for prescription glasses emphasizes the exquisite form and elegant silhouettes, creating a new bright image.

"Vintage Eyewear" style.

Vintage eyewear is a retro-chic, which returns us to the basics of the eyewear fashion of the last century but on the modern technological level. The forties years is a time of the legible and classical forms with neutral colors (gray and black). In the fifties shape of frames is transformed and is born the "cat's eye" style. The sixties and seventies is exploded by the large effusive forms. In the eighties and nineties appear first mirrored lens. Rethinking the styles of gone years by on the basis of modern technologies and materials, bold experimentation with different forms and materials create a new unique designs, where nostalgia combines with modernity. Note that the vintage style has gained popularity in recent years.

"Minimalist Charm" style.

An attempt to break the boundaries of the urban everyday life, typical for this style, was reflected in a combination of clean lines of frames with a very bold shapes. Round form getting larger and may even turn into a square. Eyewear for young people, made from thick acetate, are often animated with patterns. In some of them you can evidently feel the spirit of the twenties. Perhaps, this style can be attributed as less brightly expressed. It, like the concept of "charm", almost defies strict definition. It is at the level of internal sensations.

"Exotica" style.

Sunglasses of that unusual style is designed to help escape from a boring city life and forget about the problems associated with the downturn in the economy. Inflammatory African motifs, animalistic prints, textures, graffiti, graceful finishing details, the widespread use of wood and leather, colors, reminiscent shades of the earth, all this is mixed freely to warm the heart.

"Moonlight" style.

Moonlight as surreal veil is giving the hue of mystery all that shines. In 2012 frames, inspired by the charm of moonlight, use innovative nuances that should excite the imagination and create a figure, full of mystery and enchantment. Light is lightness and blinding glitter detail. Silver mirrored lenses contribute to a complete transformation of this accessory into a work of art that exists outside of time and space.

"Sport" style sunglasses.

Sport style shades
Sports style remains at the height of fashion among young people in recent years.  Fitting face shape of frames, bright colors of lenses, modern materials and technological innovations are the characteristic features of this popular style. Impact-resistant lenses made from modern polymers ("Trivex" and the latest novelty "Tribrid") will make your glasses are not only fashionable, but also much safer than glasses with lenses of conventional polymers.

Legacy of genius, or why we love sunglasses by John Galliano.

Under the brand John Galliano, which bears the name of one of the most striking and original designers of our time, John Galliano, today is released a line of clothes, shoes, jewelry and, of course, frames and sunglasses. The history of this brand is a basis of our material.

Childhood in the rhythm of flamenco.

Why we love sunglasses by John Galliano
The kingdom of glorious Galliano.
Juan Carlos Antonio Galliano-Guillén - that's the name of John Galliano by a passport - was born in 1960 in Gibraltar. Galliano's mother was a Spaniard, and his father - an Englishman, but with Italian roots, as indicated by his last name. The combustible mixture of blood, is not it? Galliano was six years old when his family moved to London. The boy's father worked as a plumber and his mother took care of children, whose was three in the family. There will be a mistake to assume that the Galiano family lived modestly, but it seems that they do not become discouraged, as far as we can judge about it years later. Mother has taught  John and sisters to dance a flamenco, has arranged theatrical performances and has clothed children in ceremonial clothing, even if they need just walk to the corner of the house. The neighbors thought that Galliano is enough strange little family. And his classmates thought to put it mildly John was a strange boy. He saw the world differently than others, in addition, he was extremely vulnerable, and thus often was the subject of ridicule classmates.

He found much his like-minded persons later: in the London Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, to which he was enrolled in 1981. His graduation collection of clothing called "Unbelievable» (Les Incroyables) was inspired by the French Revolution. This enthusiasm was derived to London's National Theatre, where he earned additionally as a costumier in parallel. Even then, inherent to him an epatage spirit had been displayed in the images he created. The collection not only earned him honors, and became a ticket to the world of high fashion. All eight models of the collection were acquired by London-based avant-garde clothing store "Browns", and exhibited in his shop window. But they were there short-lived: the exhibits were sold out within days.

How John Galliano brand had been battle-hardened.

John Galliano brand name
In 1984, with the support of investors, the designer created his own brand of John Galliano. His debut collection of clothes, he presented at London Fashion Week. It was called, neither more nor less, "Afghanistan Repudiates Western Ideals". Behind her followed by collections with of no less interesting titles: "The Ludic Game", "Fallen Angels", "Forgotten Innocents". Every show by designer was turned into an exciting theatrical performance. But despite the fact that his well thought out and orchestrated fashion show enjoyed great success, the collection sold out badly. The reason lies on the surface: they were too far removed from real life. Friends were persuading Gagliano "bring in to land" a flight of fancy and think more about the material side of thing. However both Afghanistan which did not accept Western values and the artist did not want to compromise of their principles. In 1988, merits of Galliano have been appreciated at the national level: a collection of "Blanche Dubois", dedicated to heroine of the plays of Tennessee Williams of "Streetcar Desire", he was awarded the title of "Best British Designer of the Year". Critics was amazed by a new interpretation of the asymmetric cut, proposed by Galliano. In 1994 the designer once again blew up the fashion world. This time by means collection called "Princess Lucretia". The image of the fugitive-princess to originated after the Galliano accidentally read a newspaper article about the study of the remains of the royal family, found in Yekaterinburg. This story so grab his attention that he created a collection of dresses that could be weared by imagined princess. Models walked on podium in quilted satin capes, lush ball gowns, skirts from taffeta, in which was used electric cord as a skeleton. However, despite the admiration of critics and reviewers of glossy press the collection did not enjoy commercial success, with the result that the sponsor canceled the contract with the designer. The continued existence of brand John Galliano has been put under serious threat.

Paris recognition.

Eyeglasses and Sunglasses by John Galliano
"Sunglasses are the Abs fashion accessory as well as the absolute alibi. That is the status emblem that hide the unceremonious gaze and shows only the glossy reflection you want to project. I desired to build new shades, and new glamour, for my muses to play their part in." (J. Galliano)
Salvation came in the person of the chief editor of American magazine "Vogue" Anna Wintour. In Paris, she introduced designer to the influential people and she helped arrange a demonstration of the new autumn-winter collection 1994/95 in one of the luxurious private villas located in the heart of the capital of fashion. On the creation of the collection, which many now view business card designer, Galliano spent a record 15 days. Being in a financial bind, he had created what he could afford. The basic material for the collection was black crepe satin with a smooth shiny front side and lustreless with a crepe effect seamy side. The collection was so amazing that the top models including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista as payment for demonstration was asked to get their designer dress instead the money. This fashion show has become a kind of moment of truth, and proved an absolute genius of Galliano.

John Galliano's talent soon attracted the attention of the Bernard Arnault which is the head of the group LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy). In 1995 he invited him to the post of creative director of the house Givenchy. On this position, the British nonconformist Galliano, the son of a plumber and a housewife, replaced the founder of the house Givenchy - French aristocrat Hubert James Marcel Taffin de Givenchy. And many tend to think his leaving was of forced. And soon, Galliano turned on his eyes to many things: he realized that the work of the designer must provide a profit, that the world fashion industry lives by its strict laws and without sentimentality goodbye to everyone who stop to be convenient. However, the inexhaustible talent of Galliano and his unbridled creativity should be enough to be sure this hard lot isn't for him.

Less than two years, John Galliano took the helm of the fashion house Christian Dior, who before him had held in his strong hands Gianfranco Ferré. Gianfranco explained his leaving by decision to create its own brand. Thanks Galliano house Christian Dior has achieved tremendous financial success. "I had to learn how to please the tastes of the residents of Miami, Japanese tourists and the rich Jewish ladies. Moreover, it was necessary to present it all on the podium in the integral and coherent appearance"- said Galliano on the pages of "Harper's Bazaar" magazine in 2007.

Both in terms of creativity as well as in terms of commercial results, John Galliano went down in history as the most successful designer Christian Dior house from the time of the Christian Dior. At the same time he was creating, and their collections under the brand John Galliano, allowing himself to let off steam. And what were the collection - an explosion of emotions! Designed for a new generation of rebels, romantics, trendsetters and individualists. They was surprising by the originality and boldness, which always come to expect from Galliano.

Eyeglasses and Sunglasses by John Galliano.

In 2008 it became known that it has signed a five-year license agreement with "Marcolin". (The Italian company "Marcolin" is one of the world's leading manufacturers of frames and sunglasses. Along with John Galliano brand name in the "piggy bank" the company's brands also include Diesel, Dsquared2, Montblanc, Roberto Cavalli, Swarovski, Tod's, Tom Ford). "John Galliano is genius. The agreement will strengthen our company's strategy, aimed at the production of collections of luxury eyeglasses and sunglasses brands” - has commented, Maurizio Marcolin, one of the leaders of the Italian company. Senor Marcolin was not deceived in their expectations, as well as fans of John Galliano brend in their own. They are eagerly awaiting the release of each new collection of frames and sunglasses from John Galliano, wonderfully combining high fashion and functionality.

If we talk about the collection of John Galliano, prepared for the new season, we note that in the design of men's sunglasses are clearly seen two major trends: an appeal to the military style and fresh interpretations of sunglasses classic. When working with a women's line of sunglasses has been formulated and brilliantly solved the problem to create a sunglasses similar to an elegant multi-colored veil, adorned the face of top-models at a recent John Galliano fashion shows in Paris. The result was the emergence of extremely feminine and yet extravagant sunglasses and eyeglasses, being worthy of the name of a brilliant designer.

Eyeglasses innovations thirtieth

However, the 1930s are interesting to us not only a eyeglasses and round frames, is going through of today, by the way, the real boom in popularity. At this time appeared on the market and a new stylish eyeglasses, which, like their predecessors, were completely rounded at the bottom and a flat, nearly oval at the top, so that their upper limit is below the eyebrows. Upholders of eyeglasses with big round light openings that decision seemed far more successful with both aesthetic and practical point of view: the contact of prescription lenses with an eyebrows caused contamination of the latter, which could even lead to a deterioration of sight.

In 1932 a new form of eyeglasses, one of the names which can be translated from German as "Eyeglasses, providing a complete overview", was released by the Carl Zeiss company and first patented by them. In addition to the form of light openings these eyeglasses differ by a number of advantages: temples were attached to the frame is not in the middle, as it were, a little below the upper rim, which does not impede the lateral review; temples, designed taking into account the anatomy of the ears have become more comfortable; to replace the nose bridge, made in the form of a saddle, tightly fit to the nose and often causes pain, came mobile nose pad, fixed with metal threads. Nose pads, that still are used to fix most metal frames, represented of a pincushion type, rounded plate covered with a flesh-colored celluloid. Without exaggeration we can say that the emergence of "frames, providing a complete overview," was not only a significant milestone in the history of Carl Zeiss, was selecting the development and manufacture of eyeglass frames in a separate area of its activities, but also heralded a new era of fashion eyewear. (Today the manufacturer of glasses and prescription lens Zeiss is a German company Ferdinand Menrad Group)

As an aside, I would like to note that to the accessories in the thirties, has received considerable attention. In an era of economic crisis, it was the least expensive item of expenditure for those who wish to get a newness in its appearance. With the improvement of the appearance of the eyeglasses frames have also begun to acquire the character of the decoration. In the early decades of the Americas to Europe came the fashion for gold-colored eyeglasses, perfectly harmonizing with the color of the skin. For the first time this color has appeared in an assortment of frames by Bausch & Lomb - one of the major newsmakers in the industry of those days where it is marked as Arista Natural Gold. Soon, delicate golden eyeglasses can be purchased from European manufacturers. So, for example, already in 1931 they were present in the fashion line eyeglasses with prescription lens by the German company Menrad.

Eyeglasses in the context of the past era. Elegant 1930.

1930 began with the global crisis. The symbol of fashion in the era crisis was long skirts, which "came down" immediately after the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange. Perhaps the same can be said about the wearing eyewear. Eyeglasses were, if not the symbol, then at least witnessed the era, and you will learn about it from this part of the article.

"Jazz Age ended October 29"

(This phrase is attributed to American writer Scott Fitzgerald (Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, 1896-1940).)
Elegant 1930 Fashion World: Eyeglasses.
"Golden twentieth", also called the century of jazz, ended October 29, 1929, in the same ill-fated "Black Tuesday", when on the New York Stock Exchange  Dow Jones and stock prices plummeted catastrophically. Their fall marked the end of a brief financial well-being and the beginning of the Great Depression. (Although the date of the end of the Great Depression in America is 1933, which launched the new economic policies of Franklin Roosevelt, the echoes of the crisis is clearly felt by the end of the thirties.) After a few months after the incident in the stock market an unemployment began to take rampant. If workers are living "paycheck to paycheck," just lost their livelihoods, the middle class in addition to lost work and even their life savings. People are rapidly got impoverished. And was the only one entertainment is available to many, a kind of pill against of depression, which allowed at least for a time to forget the harsh reality and add bright colors in a faded commonness. It was a cinema. In a crisis, it was intended to support the spirit and restore hope and I must say, has successfully coped with this task.
